Meet the Students who traveled to Nepal in 2023

After a ten-year hiatus, we were thrilled to have sent a delegation of Ten Friends Board members and high school students over to Nepal! The group of students were five adventurous young women - which is perhaps fitting given our support for the Himalayan Education Center.

Lauren Hartrich - 11th grade student at Summit High School

My name is Lauren Hartrich and I’ve just finished my junior year at Summit High School. I’m part of the Rotary Interact club and several other clubs. I’m passionate about volunteer service and traveling and my free time is filled with biking, dancing, adventures and two jobs. I am really looking forward to going to Nepal and enriching the lives of those who live there!

Anja Bond-Welch - 11th grade student at Summit High School

Heyo! My name is Anja Bond-Welch and I’m a rising senior at Summit High School. I’m a four-seasons-a-year type of gal always in pursuit of an adventure regardless of the weather. Whether it’s surfing, whitewater, skiing or biking, I’m down! I got connected with Ten Friends through the Interact Club at school and love the ideas and mission of the organization. I am beyond excited to embark on the trip to change the lives of so many women and children and I truly can’t wait!!

Molly Greaney – 11th grade student at Sisters High School

My name is Molly Greaney and I am about to enter my senior year at Sisters High School. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outdoors, skiing, hiking, reading, playing music, and being with my family and friends. I have lived in Sisters my entire life, but I love traveling and experiencing different parts of the world. I am excited to join Ten Friends (as a new Board member and on this trip) because I am passionate about gender equality and giving women access to education. By traveling to Nepal and being a part of Ten Friends, I hope to help make a positive impact for women in these communities.

Hadley Schar – 12th grade student at Sisters High School

My name is Hadley Schar and I’ve just graduated from Sisters High School. I have a passion for children and helping others. My hope is to become a missionary and travel the world helping out wherever I can. I hope this trip can direct me into a path where I can continue serving others for a career.

Izzy Schiller - 11th grade student Sisters High School

My name is Izzy Schiller and I’m going to be a senior at Sisters High School next year. I’ve lived in Sisters for most of my life and enjoy every activity that comes with being so close to the outdoors! I especially enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures so I can’t wait to go to Nepal and bring back the experiences that I gained to Sisters!
