Child Sponsorships
Ten Friends supports several Nepal based organizations that are focused on educating and housing children. These organizations have programs that allow individuals to sponsor children. Highlighted below are the organizations and their sponsorship programs.
Hopeful Home Orphanage
Hopeful Home Orphanage is an independent, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious charitable organization that provides a safe and secure place to live for 20 children who live at the orphanage. Hopeful Home has a sponsorship program that connects the child with their sponsor through correspondence and visits that enables the development of a unique relationship. A child knowing that someone cares about them and is there to support them is gratifying.
Himalayan Education Center
The Himalayan Education Center is a well-established program supported by Ten Friends. Its focus is on providing education for twelve young women who want to become teachers. The Himalayan Education Center recruits students in the region and supports their education through providing a safe and secure living and learning environment.
The Himalayan Education Center is presently developing their child sponsorship program and should be offering opportunities for student sponsorships in the Summer of 2025. Please check back for information on the program.
Tilahi Village Student Sponsorships
(Formerly referred to as Elevate Nepal)
One of Ten Friends programs is for assisting individuals who need the most help and through our efforts can break the cycle of poverty. The focus is on the people who are part of the Musahar Caste and who generally reside in the Village of Tilahi. One of the key initiatives of the program is to provide opportunities to a few students who have excelled in school and who have shown an aptitude for learning and an interest in continuing their education.
We are presently in the process of developing a sponsorship program to send the students to schools in other areas of Nepal. Sponsorships will provide them with the funds needed to advance their education. They will be provided with the opportunity to pursue their careers by attending advanced schools located in other areas of Nepal. Sponsorships will fund their tuition, food, clothes, living and other expenses. The hope and potential requirement is that they will return to the Tilahi Village and to contribute to the local area.
